Doug Hill has worked with visual media as long as he can remember. From an early age, he was drawn to the personal satisfaction of capturing a moment in time and later being able to create a unique image of a moment starting with nothing but the vision.
While learning to develop his B&W photographs, he was quickly enamored with the full spectrum of possibilities photography offered him as an artist. He soon began experimenting with various methods of presenting his images.
Hill was fascinated with the ability to showcase his photography in a captivating and compelling way by adventuring into techniques such as large projection images across several panels, creating his own masks from photosensitive transparencies to create composites in the darkroom, 3D reliefs, and combining sculpture with photography.
Now, he has come full circle, back to his fundamental roots by focusing on the techniques of controlling and mastering light to create a unique impression. Recently, having traveled throughout the USA, Greece, Africa, and the Bahamas on photo shoots, his favorite location remains Miami, Florida.
When not traveling, Doug never waits for inspiration and can be found in his hometown studio working on manipulating light setups or simply enjoying time with his family. Hill's images have been seen in international magazines, and most recently, his work was showcased at the 2014 Art Basel show in Miami.
